Sage & Simple is a Johannesburg-based, small-batch soap business founded on one belief: everyday skincare does not need to be complicated.
Meet the maker
Created by Caren Mac Kaiser, one careful batch at a time.
Sage & Simple began with Caren’s interest in a shorter, more thoughtful approach to skincare. Instead of filling a bar with unnecessary extras, she focused on traditional soapmaking, carefully selected oils and tallow as the foundation.
Every batch is made by hand in Johannesburg, cut individually and cured for six weeks. That slower process creates a firm, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather.
It is not mass-produced skincare. It is honest soap, made with care.
Why tallow soap?
A traditional ingredient for a simpler daily cleanse.
Tallow helps create a hard bar and creamy lather. We combine it with selected plant oils and purposeful additions—such as oats, honey, charcoal, coffee or essential oils—depending on the bar.

Shorter formulas
Every ingredient has a reason to be in the bar. No synthetic fragrance, harsh detergent or decorative filler.

Everyday versatility
Choose an unscented bar, a gentle oat-and-honey option, a fresh citrus bar or something with light exfoliation.

Each batch cures for six weeks, helping the bars become firm and longer-lasting when kept dry between uses.
